70th Birthday Gift Box!

We have been invited to help our neighbor celebrate his 70th birthday today. Chuck and I have a couple of things in common. One is that we both have lived most of our lives in the same house we grew up in ( he has been in his MUCH longer than me!) and the second is our determination on finding ways to keep the multitude of deer from eating everything in our yards! He and his wife have a lovely family and they are one of the reasons I like where I live so much.

One crafter I truly enjoy following is Pootles in the UK ( http://pootles.co.uk)  mainly for her tutorials on boxes.  Lately, Sam has been showing off her wonderful little gift boxes for “sweeties”  and such using the Stampin’ Up! dsp stacks.  But later this week, she mixed things up by using a 6×6 piece of dsp  to make a rectangular box with an open top. You can see it here .  A fabulous box, but for my gift it was just not tall enough. So I omitted one of the scores and closed the top like a milk carton.  I love this wood looking paper and  these tiny clothes pins add to the rustic charm. I’m really loving the feather dies and stamps from Stampin’ Up!  You will definitely be seeing more of those here in the future!
